Due to widespread power outages and impassable roads, Alton Central School, Barnstead Elementary School, and Prospect Mountain High School will be closed on Friday, April 5. There will be no school and no remote learning schedule. Stay warm and safe.
Alton Central School, Barnstead Elementary School, and Prospect Mountain High School will have a two-hour delay tomorrow morning, Friday, April 5. If a cancellation becomes necessary, that announcement will be made in the morning. Until then, all students and staff should plan on a two-hour delay.
Thursday, April 4th. Widespread power and internet outages today may present a challenge to log on and complete classwork. We will continue with the remote day, ask students and teachers to do what they can, and understand that some may not be able to access Google Classroom. Absences will be excused. Stay safe and warm.

Based on the forecast of snow accumulations of up to 18", tomorrow, April 4th, will be a Blizzard Bag day for students in grades K-3 and a Remote Learning day for students in grades 4-12. Principals will send a follow-up email with Blizzard Bag/Remote Learning expectations.

Due to the impending storm and the April 5th early release, there will be a change to the school day on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. April 3rd will be an early release for all students while Friday, April 5th will be a full day.
We will continue to monitor the storm. If a cancellation on Thursday, April 4th is necessary, that day will be a Blizzard Bag day for students in K - 3 and a remote day for students in grades 4 - 12.

Good morning! Though some areas are still without power, Barnstead Elementary School has power and heat, and buses are running. We are looking forward to seeing students at school today!
Prospect Mountain High School, Alton Central School, and Barnstead Elementary School will all be closed on Saturday, March 23, 2024. All previously-scheduled activities are canceled.
The Barnstead School District Annual Meeting, scheduled for Saturday at 9:00 a.m., has been postponed due to a National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning. The meeting will now be held Monday, March 25, at 6:00 p.m. in the BES cafeteria. Free child care will be provided at BES by PMHS student-athletes.

There will be no preschool classes at the BES Early Learning Center on Friday, March 15. Barnstead Elementary School IS open today for kindergarten through eighth grade.
