The Prospect Mountain Joint Board, comprised of the Alton and Barnstead school boards, has entered into contract negotiations with Assistant Superintendent Matt Jozokos to become the next Superintendent of Alton and Barnstead’s schools. The board intends to enter into a three-year contract with Mr. Jozokos, ensuring continuity of district leadership and stability for students, teachers, and the communities.
Current superintendent Dr. Timothy Broadrick will depart Prospect Mountain after June 30 to take over the Claremont, NH, school district. Mr. Jozokos has served as assistant superintendent for the last four years of Dr. Broadrick’s seven-year tenure leading our schools. Mr. Jozokos has led curriculum alignment efforts that have shown positive results at all levels, particularly in recent gains in student achievement at Prospect Mountain High School. He has led the system-wide Technology Committee, a Literacy Committee that is bringing research-based reading instruction into the schools, and has organized teachers to pilot Math programs this year. As he transitions into the superintendent role, Mr. Jozokos and the joint board will seek a Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to continue those initiatives while Mr. Jozokos turns his attention to the school districts' strategic leadership.
The joint board unanimously decided that Mr. Jozokos is the clear, logical choice to lead our schools. He is known and trusted by staff and board members, and he is well-versed in the joint school boards’ current initiatives and school improvement plans.
